creates new mountain resort
hotel in Åre, Sweden

Scandinavia’s first world-class resort hotel is now under construction in Åre, Sweden. When Copperhill Mountain Lodge opens in October 2008 it will boast 112 suites and rooms, restaurants, bars and a luxury spa. The location was chosen for its unique situation with magnificent views of Jämtland’s mountains and lakes, as well as the opportunity of providing ski-in/ski-out access to Scandinavia’s largest ski area. The hotel has a modern design by American architect Peter Bohlin and a lodge-style setting.

The architect Peter Bohlin has worked on many large and spectacular projects, including Bill Gates’ private home and Apple’s prestigious stores in London, New York and Tokyo. The creation of Copperhill Mountain Lodge marks an exclusive appearance in Scandinavia.

Copperhill Mountain Lodge will be a mountain resort hotel that offers exclusive accommodation and services to national and international tourists and the MICE market. The hotel has 112 suites and rooms, a gourmet restaurant, après-ski with live music and a pizzeria, a fireside lounge, cocktail bar, spa and health club, kids’ club, covered car parking and an in-house ski shop. There will be a wide range of conference facilities, such as meeting rooms for a total of 600 people, with individual capacities varying from 10 to 350 seats, as well as all necessary conference equipment.

At 730 metres above sea level the hotel has a view that extends for miles. There will be ski-in/ski-out access to Åre’s ski area, which is the largest in Scandinavia, with a lift system that is open from November 1 until April 30. In the summer and autumn Åre offers a wide range of outdoor activities and events. The hotel is situated 1 or 1.5 hours’ drive from the international airports of Åre-Östersund and Trondheim-Vaernes.

The final investment cost is estimated at EUR 48 million. The company’s shareholders are two Dutch investors, Frans Scholtes and Peter Kat.
